Project Build It And They Will Come: College Students Must Vote

commentComments

We need volunteers to contact colleges in key districts and have them secure polling places on their campuses. Each volunteer will be assigned a few colleges in a state. This work is all remote and on your own time.

You will be trained, helped and guided along the way.

Purpose: It is simply not enough to register young college voters, we must make it easier for busy (and often disengaged) college students to actually complete the physical task of voting!
Goal: Increasing college campus voting turnout by 10-20% (especially in a midterm election cycle) may be enough to hold a DEM District or flip a GOP District.

The Ask: Volunteers are needed to reach out by phone to critical districts on a target list to help colleges secure voting sites on campus for 2026 midterms (includes calls to: colleges and county elections offices and connect them, and to track/oversee college progress toward this important goal). 5 easy steps!

Each Volunteer will be asked to partner/liaise with one Congressional District which will have generally between 3-7 college campus targets.

This activity is a blitz initiative as these sites need to be planned for by the County months ahead of time. That said, it is an activity (like phone banking) that can be done from the comfort of your own home, it takes but a few calls to connect with a college and its corresponding county elections office! For busy college students (many who are somewhat disengaged especially for a midterm cycle election) – an on campus voting site is exactly the motivation they need to actually, physically get out and vote!

Step by Step Process:
1) Let us know you want to join this Project as a volunteer and we will assign you a district

2) Contact each colleges general number and ask for the Dept of Student Affairs/Dean of Students Office

3) Contact the Secretary of State Office and ask for the contact number of the County/Local elections office for the District you are overseeing

4) Circle back and forward the paperwork from the Elections Office

5) Stay connected to your college contact person to ensure the process is
moving forward and on schedule in order
That’s it – 5 easy steps!

Interested – fill out this short form and we will have you join this project volunteer community!
