Rural Voters Vote YES Postcard Campaign Supporting VA Redistricting
Since July Trump has been pressuring red states to redraw congressional districts mid-decade to create more Republican-leaning seats. In response, California Governor Gavin Newsom proposed redrawing districts to add Democratic seats—but rather than deciding it behind closed doors, California put the measure on the ballot. Voters approved it with 60% support.
Virginia is responding to election rigging with our own Redistricting Constitutional Amendment. Like California, we are choosing transparency and accountability—by letting voters, not politicians, decide. We’re calling this the VoteYES campaign.
We’re excited to partner with Rural GroundGame (the premier rural outreach and organizing organization in Virginia) to reach rural voters across the Commonwealth through our postcard campaign. Every election teaches us the same lesson: we can’t win without rural voters.
Postcards are a good tactic to reach rural voters. In rural communities, mail remains an important source of information.
Because the timeline is tight—early voting begins March 6 and Election Day is April 21—we have specially designed postcards doing double duty: voter education and voting information. This campaign requires the use of these postcards. Order here! Request expedited shipping
Our goal is ambitious: sending 250,000 postcards — and we need your help now. Every card counts, and time is critical. Please think BIG, step up, and write as many as you possibly can. Let’s push ourselves to hit this target and make it happen.

Because the timeline is tight—early voting begins March 6 and Election Day is April 21—we have specially designed postcards doing double duty: voter education and voting information. This campaign requires the use of these postcards. There are no exceptions. Order postcards HERE.
The postcards are available for purchase from union printer Gibson press. Please note that the price of these postcards is higher than from our other vendors. Rural GroundGame is committed to working with union vendors, reflecting its values and support for organized labor. As Lynlee Thorne, Co-Founder and Political Director of Rural GroundGame, explains:
We believe in supporting businesses that pay people a living wage and give workers a real voice on the job. We know not everyone sees it the same way, and that’s okay—but this is a commitment we care deeply about. If Democrats and progressives want to earn people’s trust as champions for working families, it’s important to show that through the choices we make every day.
Rural GroundGame understands that many postcard writers are working within real financial limits, and they are actively exploring ways to help subsidize costs. At this time, though, pricing at Gibson Printing remains as presented on the shop.
3. Script
Because the timeline is short and the postcard needs to include both voter education and get-out-the-vote information, the main message is already printed on the card. There’s space at the bottom for you to write “Thank you” and sign your name. If you’d like to add a short personal note, feel free to do so!
There is a disclaimer from Rural GroundGame on the card.

DOWNLOADING ADDRESSES
- If you have an account with Postcards4VA, you can start downloading addresses now from our 24/7 address distribution portal. Click here.
- If you don’t have an account, you can register for an account here.
PROFILE OF ADDRESSES – These addresses represent rural voters who likely voted for Spanberger. Virginia voters don’t register by party, so we use other methods to determine party affiliation. For this campaign, we are only writing to voters who lean Democratic.
LABELS – Because of the short turnaround time, you can use labels if that allows you to send more postcards.
5. Mailing Date - Up till April 3rd
Election Day is April 21. Start mailing on March 6 and continue mailing until April 3.
6. Writing Instructions
- Handwrite your postcards legibly (as always). According to studies, recipients respond more positively to postcards that are neat & easy to read.
- Be certain to highlight, use a different color, underline and/or use bold for key phrases.
- Do not write anything other than the address in the address area. It confuses the postal scanners.
- Sign your name, but only use your first name or initials.
- SHARING ON SOCIAL MEDIA – We encourage you to share photos of your postcards on social media. Please COVER recipient names & addresses before taking any photos of your completed postcards.
Think of your postcard as a smile you are sending another person. Our postcards show there are real people out there volunteering their time and money to fight for Democracy. Make your cards colorful, positive, and purposeful! As Virginia State Senator Danica Roem puts it “Postcards give you a reason to believe.”
