MOTIVATION: The measure is largely a reaction to a proposed mid-decade redistricting plan in Texas.
WHY: If we don’t act now, Donald Trump will rig the 2026 election and steal control of Congress for the next several years regardless of how the people vote. Support the California special election to redraw our Congressional maps and defend fair representation.
The Election Rigging Response Act makes sure the 2026 mid-term elections are conducted on a level playing field without an unfair advantage for Republicans.
PURPOSE OF PROP 50: To temporarily replace the state’s existing congressional district maps with new ones drawn by the state legislature. The new maps would be in effect for the 2026, 2028, and 2030 elections.
The Election Rigging Response Act provides emergency maps that go into effect ONLY if Republicans move forward with their power grab.
