America at 250: The State of Our Union (and what you can do to save it)
Volunteer Blue welcomes U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin for a discussion on the state of Congress today and the importance of protecting democratic institutions and the rule of law.
The Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee will explore how citizen action can ensure institutional resilience, free and fair elections, and the peaceful transfer of power. Ultimately, the survival of representative government depends on an informed public engaging in the democratic process.
Rep. Raskin, who represents Maryland’s 8th district, is the author of several books on law and democracy and is a highly respected voice in Congress, known for his constitutional expertise. He played a crucial role on the Select Committee to investigate the January 6 attack, and was the lead impeachment manager during the Senate trial of Donald Trump in 2021.
