Bob Harvie is the Democratic nominee for Pennsylvania's 1st Congressional District, having won the May 19, 2026 primary over Lucia Simonelli. He will face five-term Republican incumbent Brian Fitzpatrick in a district -- covering all of Bucks County and part of Montgomery County -- that Democrats have targeted for years without success, and that the DCCC has again named among its top pickup opportunities nationally.

Born and raised in Bristol Borough, Harvie spent 26 years as a high school social studies teacher, including as department chair at Bucks County Technical High School, before entering local politics. He served on the Falls Township Board of Supervisors from 2003 to 2020, including multiple terms as its chair, before he and fellow Democrat Diane Ellis-Marseglia were elected to the Bucks County Board of Commissioners in 2019 -- giving Democrats a majority on the county board for the first time in nearly 40 years. He was re-elected in 2023 and has served as both chair and vice chair of the board, overseeing a billion-dollar county budget.

Harvie launched his congressional campaign in April 2025 with endorsements from former U.S. Representatives Patrick Murphy and Peter Kostmayer and past PA-01 candidates Ashley Ehasz and Scott Wallace. He has described himself as "not a hyper-partisan person," noting that most votes taken by the county commissioners have been unanimous, and has centered his campaign on restoring the American Dream for middle-class families in Bucks and Montgomery Counties.
