Volunteers are needed to protect Democratic votes cast in the midterms.

Vote protection, now or after election day, ensures every eligible citizen can cast a ballot and have it accurately counted.

• Purge Chasing: advocacy groups work to find, verify, and “chase” down voters who have been wrongfully purged from voter registration lists. Voters whose names have been “purged” do not receive notifications of upcoming elections, requests for absentee ballots or vote-by-mail ballots, and they face obstacles when they go to vote.
• Poll Watching: local election officials train and authorize volunteers to sit inside voting and counting locations to ensure election workers follow regulations. They document irregularities and help voters who face improper challenges.
• Poll Monitoring: volunteers are outside polling place legal buffer zones to report operational issues, such as long lines or improper/aggressive behavior.  They can greet voters, conduct exit polls, or hold campaign signs. They cannot demand identification, follow or film voters, or intimidate voters.
• Ballot “Curing”: volunteers contact voters by phone or in person if a mail-in ballot has a minor mistake, like a missing signature. This gives voters a chance to fix errors before the deadline. Volunteer Blue, and our partners, will train you to cure ballots, an easy phone call or door knock to friendly Democrats on a “curing” list. Every ballot “cured” can be another vote for a Democrat!
