Jon Ossoff

Background

Jon Ossoff is serving his first term as Georgia’s U.S. Senator. representing Georgia.. His 2026 Senate race has been deemed a Toss-Up by Cook, and he is now judged as the “most endangered incumbent” in the country.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, he earned a BA from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 2009 and a master's degree from the London School of Economics in 2013. Ossoff was mentored by civil rights legend Congressman John Lewis. Before coming to the Senate, Ossoff was a national security staffer and legislative assistant for U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson, (GA-04). Later Ossoff was managing director and CEO of a small documentary film company that exposed war crimes, public corruption, human trafficking, and organized crime. He received the 2021 Martin and Coretta King National Leadership Award. Ossoff lives with his wife, Dr. Alisha Kramer, and their two daughters in Atlanta.

In his first two years, Sen. Ossoff passed into law more standalone bills than any other freshman.

Ossoff has worked to:
- Advance infrastructure projects
- Strengthen mental health services and public safety
- Provide expanded health care services for veterans
- Investigate unsolved lynchings and Civil Rights murders
- Cap the cost of insulin to $35/month
- Protect children from online exploitation
- Expand broadband access

Senator Ossoff led bipartisan investigations that exposed the mistreatment of military families living in privatized housing; corruption in federal prisons; the sexual assault of female inmates; and the medical mistreatment of women in federal detention.
