Mary Peltola served as the U.S. representative from Alaska’s at-large congressional district from 2022 to 2025. She previously served as a judge on the Orutsararmiut Native Council’s tribal court, and was executive director of the Kuskokwim River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission.

Peltola is the most recent Democrat to have won or held statewide office in Alaska. She was also the first Alaska Native to serve in Congress. She is running for the seat currently held by Republican Dan Sullivan.

We need to pick up four seats to win a Senate majority.

Mary Peltola Gets Us One Step Closer!

Peltola’s signature slogan – “fish, family, and freedom” – reflects her commitment to fighting for the unique needs of Alaska voters.

Alaska’s open primary with ranked choice voting is scheduled for August 18. The top four vote-getters will advance to the November general election regardless of party affiliation.

So far there’s only one other Democrat vying for this seat, but Peltola is seen in the top spot for the first round of voting. Her reputation as an experienced, non-partisan, moderate problem solver makes her a formidable opponent to Dan Sullivan despite the state’s history of supporting Republicans.
