Urge Congress to De-I.C.E! Do Anytime from Anywhere
Is the chaos created by ICE troubling you more each day? Here is something useful you can do from home!
Basically, we want to put pressure on Republican representatives in vulnerable seats by having remote volunteers like you contact constituents to urge them to act. And a powerful way to do this is through relational organizing—contacting someone you know.
Specifically, we ask you contact friends and family in Red states and districts to ask them to call their U.S. Congressman and urge them to end ICE overreach and demand accountability. Red state/district voters convincing Republicans of the intense opposition to ICE invading our communities could turn the tide.
If you live in one of these districts – just do the call yourself and ask your contacts in the district to do the same.
1. Make a List of Your Contacts in These Vulnerable Red Districts
Look at the list of REDistricts and think through who you know in each one. An old classmate, a cousin, a fellow alum?
Take some time with this list as ideally you will use it several times in the run up to the midterms.
2. Make the Ask - Have Them Contact Their Representative
Then send them each a note asking them to contact their Representative
They can find the right congressman and phone number by calling 202-224-3121.
Get them a suggested script:
“Hi, My name is [name]. I’m a constituent from [town, state] and I am becoming increasingly troubled by the unchecked expansion of ICE.I urge you to work to demand accountability and oversight of the agency, initiate a full, impartial investigation of ICE’s use of deadly force in Minneapolis, and refuse to allocate any further funds until there are answers and reforms.”
