Fall Canvasses for VA General Assembly Candidates

Join us in September, October, and November to knock on doors for Democratic candidates for the VA General Assembly. Winning House of Delegates seats is key to flipping the VA House blue, and winning Senate seats is key to maintaining – or increasing! – the current Democratic majority in the VA Senate.

Meeting voters at their door is the most effective form of voter contact. You’ll learn a lot about VA voters while knowing you’ve done your part to make a difference.

OUR CANDIDATES. Here are the candidates we’ll be supporting:

• RUSSET PERRY. Russet has worked as a public prosecutor and helped set up separate mental health and drug court dockets. She’s also served as a CIA officer. She’s a strong fighter for abortion rights, environmental protection, gun safety, and support for the most vulnerable.
• JOSH THOMAS. Josh served in the US Marine Corps in Afghanistan and the Middle East and volunteered for the Virginia Medical Reserve Corps during the COVID pandemic. He currently works as an attorney representing underserved individuals and communities. His priority issues include affordable housing, women’s rights, protection of the environment, and affordable healthcare.
• DANICA ROEM. Danica has served in the VA House of Delegates since 2017. She’s been a strong advocate for transportation, reproductive rights, the environment, gun safety, education, and fair taxes. As a former journalist, she believes her number one job is to listen to her constituents, follow up on the issues they raise, and include those issues in her policy platforms.

DRIVE STUDENT CANVASSERS. Would you be willing to drive college students to the canvass launch site and around their turf? Meet some terrific next generation activists and expand NOPE’s volunteer pool! Student canvass dates are October 21 and November 4 and 5.
