It’s an understatement to say a lot has happened in Arizona since the 2020 election. It’s been a busy time – a Republican disinformation-driven ‘fraudit’ of the presidential election gerrymandered maps, voter suppression bills, and fights in the legislature to maintain education funding.
2022 is a big election for Arizona, and there’s lots to know to have an impact in 2022. We’ll need to help Senator Mark Kelly to retain his seat (and control of the Senate!), defend congressional seats, work to flip the 1 seat Republican advantage in the state legislature, elect a new Governor and more! Arizona 2022 A to Z is the third in our series of meetings to help you better understand the issues, controversies, and latest news where you’ll be getting out the vote in 2022.
We’ll be hearing from the people who really know what’s happening in Arizona:
- Arizona Democratic Party Chairwoman and state Senator Raquel Terán
- Alex Gulotta, Arizona voting rights expert and Arizona state director for a voting rights organization
- Melinda Iyer, Policy Director for Save our Schools Arizona and author of the famous Iyer Report on the AZ state legislature
The discussion will cover voting rights, recent legislation, and how each of the 2022 elections in Arizona will impact the state and our country. We’ll also kick off the event with a quick overview from Deborah Howard, leader of Swing Left Maricopa County, who will give us an overview of the results of redistricting.
