Background

With nearly 40 years of experience in law and public service, Carl Marlinga, candidate for MI-10 House, has dedicated his career to fighting for justice and advocating for his community. He has served as the Macomb County Prosecutor, an Assistant U.S. Attorney, and most recently, as a judge on the 16th Judicial Circuit Court and Probate Court.

Marlinga’s commitment to his community is deeply rooted, and his career is marked by significant achievements in promoting justice, equality, and economic growth. He made history as the first Macomb County prosecutor to hire African American assistant prosecutors; he also significantly increased opportunities for women in the prosecutor’s office, raising their representation from 7% in 1984 to over 50% by 2004. Marlinga has championed seniors, helping them recover millions lost to unscrupulous individuals, and he led efforts to crack down on white-collar crime.

A founding board member of Care House, Marlinga has been a staunch advocate for victims of criminal sexual conduct, establishing the Macomb Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (S.A.N.E.) program to provide prompt examination and support services.

Carl Marlinga is focused on creating good-paying jobs in advanced technology, protecting Michigan’s natural resources, and ensuring that the U.S. leads in industries like clean energy and advanced vehicles. He is determined to bring the supply chain back to America and end dependence on foreign oil, strengthening the economy for families in Macomb and Oakland counties.

A passionate advocate for reproductive rights. In the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned, he has been vocal in his support for women’s healthcare choices and has pledged to codify the protections of Roe into federal law. He has consistently supported women throughout his career.

Environmental protection is another top priority. Living in a district surrounded by the Great Lakes, Marlinga understands the importance of preserving natural treasures. As Macomb County Prosecutor, he fought to keep the lakes clean and is committed to strengthening the EPA to ensure that future generations can enjoy Michigan’s waterways.
