Colin Allred
Texas, Senate
Democrat Colin Allred has represented Texas' 32nd congressional district since 2019. He is running neck-and-neck against Sen. Ted Cruz. His polling numbers have been rising steadily as Election Day nears, giving Democrats hope of flipping a seat in the Senate.
Born in Dallas, Texas, he was raised by a single mom, a public-school teacher who often worked two jobs to make ends meet. Allred earned a full scholarship to play football at Baylor University, where he earned a B.A. He played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Tennessee Titans. After leaving the NFL, Allred earned a J.D. from the University of California Berkeley School of Law. He worked in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in the Obama administration.
Colin and his wife, Aly, are raising their two young boys, Jordan and Cameron, in Dallas, and he says “dad” will always be his most important title. He was the first member of Congress to take paternity leave and is a leading voice for paid family leave for all Americans.
