Frank Mrvan
Indiana, Congress (IL-01)

Born and raised in Hammond, Indiana, Mrvan earned a degree in psychology from Ball State University. After college, he returned to Northwest Indiana, working in a variety of roles in local government and nonprofit organizations. Mrvan and his wife met in high school, and the couple has raised two daughters.
In 2005, Mrvan's was elected to the North Township Board of Trustees and served for 15 years. There, he was known for his innovative approaches to providing social services and his commitment to fiscal responsibility. In 2020, Mrvan's first campaign for Congress came in 2020, when he ran for the open seat in Indiana's 1st district. Mrvan,a Democrat, emphasized his record of public service and his deep ties to the community, as well as his commitment to issues like job creation, infrastructure investment, and healthcare access.
On the Issues
As a member of the Congressional Steel Caucus, Mrvan has also been a strong advocate for Northwest Indiana's steel industry. He has pushed for policies to support domestic manufacturing, enforce trade laws, and invest in the region's infrastructure.
Mrvan's support of codifying abortion rights contrasts with his Republican challenger's praise for the Dobbs decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade.
