Sen. Bob Casey Jr., D-PA, is a respected and influential figure in American politics. Born in Scranton, Casey comes from a family with a long tradition of public service. His father, Bob Casey Sr., served as the governor of Pennsylvania from 1987 to 1995, instilling in his namesake a deep sense of commitment to public service and social justice. He received his undergraduate degree from the College of the Holy Cross and earned a law degree from the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law.

Casey’s political career began in 1996 when he was elected Pennsylvania State Auditor General. His role in that post and later as State Treasurer earned him a reputation for fiscal responsibility and government accountability. In 2006, Casey defeated incumbent Rick Santorum to become a U.S. Senator. He has won re-election twice, in 2012 and 2018.


Sen. Casey has been a staunch advocate for affordable healthcare, job creation, education, and veterans’ rights. He has consistently supported the Affordable Care Act and has been instrumental in expanding Medicaid coverage in Pennsylvania. Casey played a vital role in passing the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, which sought to enhance nutrition standards for school meals and increase access to healthy food for disadvantaged children.
