Canvass in Swing States – w. Supported Travel
Seed The Vote sends volunteers to local grassroots organizations that work year-round on social to canvass in key states with focus on working-class communities of color.
This year we are getting canvassers on the ground in:
- Racine and Kenosha, Wisconsin with the Working Families Party (WFP)
- Milwaukee, Wisconsin with Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ)
- Detroit amd Macomb county with ; Michigan United Action
- Philadelphia with UNITE HERE
- Bensalem and Bucks county PA with Asian Pacific Islander Political Alliance
- Phoenix with LUCHA and Worker Power in Phoenix.
Canvassers receive ongoing training along with a specific script. Each day, you’ll gather at the local headquarters to get an overview of the day, and you’ll meet back there after your shift for a debrief. Canvassers go out in pairs. You will also have contact information for staff people who you can reach out to if needed.
Because we do not want cost to be a barrier for anyone to volunteer, Seed the Vote can cover all or part of the cost of transportation and housing for those who need it. We also encourage everyone who can to fundraise to help finance your trip, and/or help support other doorknockers to travel.
Our volunteers on the ground are having tremendous conversations. We want you to join them!
