Organizing Resources for Starting a Local Group
Remember the mantra “don’t agonize, organize!” This is certainly an adage for our times. You can either build your own small group or join a larger one.
If you want to start your own, consider:
1. Finding people to join
Start with your friends and family and simply grow from there. Ask people to invite their friends to join.
2. Hold an initial meeting
You can go here for the VB How To Guide for Holding a House Party.
3. Make a Plan
Make a plan for your group with actions and goals so everyone knows what direction your group is going in and how each person can fit in.
4. Create a structure for your group
Will there be a leader or a leadership team? Will there be any subgroups? Share out responsibilities to involve more people.
5. Take Action
People stay with groups that are getting things done! Use the Volunteer Blue calendar to select actions to take.
6. Need Coaching?
