Bobby Pulido is the Democratic nominee for Texas' 15th Congressional District, having defeated Ada Cuellar in the March 2026 primary to take on Republican Rep. Monica De La Cruz. A lifelong son of South Texas, small business owner, and award-winning Tejano recording artist, Pulido is running on a message of practical solutions and honest leadership for the Rio Grande Valley.
Born and raised in Edinburg, where he still lives today with his wife and their four sons, Pulido is the son of a farmworker-turned-musician. After graduating from Edinburg High School and studying political science at St. Mary's University, he launched a music career that would make him one of Tejano's most recognized voices, releasing a platinum debut album and touring the world for nearly three decades while never losing his ties to the Rio Grande Valley. Beyond the stage, he built a life as a small business owner, signing paychecks and navigating the same challenges facing Valley entrepreneurs.
Over his three-decade recording career, Pulido won eight Tejano Music Awards and two Latin Grammy Awards, including Best Tejano Album at the 2025 ceremony for his career-spanning collaboration project, Una Tuya y una Mia. In 1999, he became the youngest artist ever to win the Orgullo de la Frontera award. He announced his retirement from music to focus on his campaign, saying he wants to bring the same work ethic and connection to community that defined his career to Congress. Pulido is running as an independent-minded Democrat who says he'll never vote against South Texas families just because his party tells him to.
