Jessica Killin is the Democratic nominee for Colorado's 5th Congressional District, having won a contested June 30, 2026 primary with 63% of the vote over Joe Reagan. She will face two-term Republican incumbent Rep. Jeff Crank in the November 3 general election; the House Democrats' campaign arm has named her to its "Red to Blue" program as a top-tier candidate to flip the Colorado Springs-based seat, and she has been endorsed by every Democratic member of Colorado's congressional delegation.
A fourth-generation Coloradan raised in Colorado Springs by two public school teachers, Killin graduated from Falcon High School and earned a ROTC scholarship to attend college. She served in the U.S. Army as a Military Police officer and paratrooper, rising to the rank of captain and taking part in peacekeeping missions in the Balkans and NATO expansion efforts in Europe. She later earned a law degree from Georgetown.
Killin spent more than a decade as an executive at USAA, where she worked to protect military families during the 2008 financial crisis, streamline VA home loans, and help servicemembers avoid predatory lenders. She went on to serve in leadership roles on Capitol Hill and in the White House, including as chief of staff to Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff. She lives in Colorado Springs and is raising her daughter, Cora.
