Pia Dandiya is the Democratic nominee for Florida's 22nd Congressional District, a new Broward-to-Naples seat created after the state's post-2024 redistricting. She won the August 18, 2026 Democratic primary with 68.6% of the vote over attorney Kaysia Earley, and will face Republican Marine veteran Casey Askar in the November 3 general election. National Democrats have named her to the DCCC's "Red to Blue" program targeting the seat.
Born and raised in Palm Beach County to parents who emigrated from India, Dandiya earned a bachelor's degree in government from Harvard and a master's in education from Boston University. She began her career as a public school teacher and, at 28, became founding principal of Democracy Prep Endurance High School in Harlem, where every graduate earned college admission despite most students coming from low-income households. Her success in the classroom led to her selection as a White House Fellow, where she worked at the U.S. Department of Education on child development, school nutrition, and access to quality education. She later led public-sector modernization initiatives at Apple, partnering with state and local governments on technology solutions.
Dandiya has never held elected office; her campaign draws on her record as an educator and public-sector leader. She has been endorsed by the Florida AFL-CIO and won the Sun-Sentinel's primary endorsement, and her campaign had raised more than $2 million by early July 2026.
