Bob Brooks, a 20-year veteran of the Bethlehem, PA fire department, is running to unseat first-term U.S. Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R) in Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional district. A former president of the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association, Brooks is a small business owner and baseball coach at Nazareth Area High School. Brooks and Mackenzie are no strangers to one another, having battled over state funding for mental health for firefighters living with PTSI. Brooks has held a wide variety of jobs that have left him with a clear-eyed perspective on the challenges facing working families.
Brooks won his primary race against three opponents with 40% of the vote. The November election is expected to be a hard-fought campaign. Brooks has received an impressive array of endorsements including from Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, and Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis, Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, members of the Pennsylvania Democratic House Delegation and a wide variety of trade unions.
